Little Paxton is a village with a population of around 3,000 and is situated approximately two miles north of the market town of St. Neots. The Great Ouse River forms the boundary to the south-east, the river forms part of the Paxton Pits Nature Reserve which has been designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest giving the area statutory protection. The Reserve which boasts a large variety of meadow plants, includes a Visitors Centre, a footpath network, including two nature trails and observation points for bird watchers, it is of considerable nature conservation value, especially for certain species of wildfowl. In particular, Paxton Pits accommodates one of the largest inland Cormorant colonies in the UK.

A Welcome to the Village Community Event

Saturday 11th September 10am - 12 noon

Little Paxton Parish Council has planned a Welcome to the Village Community Event on Saturday 11th September from 10am – 12 noon in the Village Hall.

The aim of the event is to welcome new residents to the village and let them see what goes on in the village.

The event is very informal and many village groups will have table top displays to showcase their Group. Refreshments will be available.

This is a good opportunity to see the Little Paxton community in action.

The Connections Youth Bus will also be in the village hall car park to support the event.

The Bus is free and caters for Year 6 and above. Mums & Dads are welcome on the Bus to see what it has to offer.
The new bus is fitted with 4 PC’s, Internet Connection, Games Consoles (PS3 & Xbox), Crafts, Tuck Shop, Information & advice, Video/DVD & Karoke and much more. The Bus is supervised by trained youth workers.

The event is open to all residents and is free.

Mill Lane Community Building

Little Paxton Parish Council is starting to prepare a business plan for the new Community building on the Mill Lane Development. The building will be in essence a small leisure centre with a games hall big enough for three badminton courts, coffee bar, community room, changing rooms, three meeting rooms which can be used for dance, aerobics etc and outdoor full size football pitch.

The Council would like to contact potential users to ascertain their requirements and equipment needs. The inside of the community hall will have some changes made to its design and the Council is keen to consider the needs of its users before making any changes.

This will also help when applying for funding for sports equipment.

The Council has prepared a short questionnaire for potential users. The deadline for the return of questionnaires is 30th August.

Little Paxton News by Email
Do you live or work in Little Paxton? Are you on email?

Many of the works, activities, events and issues in Little Paxton pass through Little Paxton Parish Council, which is the most local tier of government. The council communicates through the parish noticeboards, its website and Council meetings, and will continue to do so.
Email offers a no-cost way to reach more people more easily, and can deliver information directly to you. The Parish Council is therefore starting a ‘News Service’ by email. The email updates will briefly notify you about, for example, works planned in the village, events, police updates, and notable future activities.
Why bother? When roadworks are scheduled we can alert you (if we’ve been warned!). When a public meeting is being held on a major planning decision, we can let you know. When a village event is happening, we can remind you about it.
If you use email and are interested in signing up for Little Paxton email updates then simply send an email to:

Welcome/Information Leaflet

The Council has revised its Welcome/Information leaflet. The leaflet has information about all village groups and organisations, with contact numbers along with details of shops and other services.

If you know anyone who has moved into the village, please contact the Clerk who will arrange delivery of the free leaflet.
